Problem 13DQ

A piece of aluminum foil used to wrap a potato for baking in a hot oven can usually be handled safely within a few seconds after the potato is removed from the oven. The same is not true of the potato, however! Give two reasons for this difference.

Step-by-Step Solution:
Step 1 of 3

Solution 13DQ Reason 1 : Aluminium foil is very good conductor of heat hence it absorbs heat very easily and this same property helps the aluminium foil lose heat faster, thus the foil loses heat and becomes cool in few seconds Reason 2 : Aluminium foil is very thin, thus it can store a very small amount heat in the foil and when it removed from oven, since the heat stored in the foil is very small , it is takes less time to lose the small amount of heat and reach the room temperature

Step 2 of 3

Chapter 17, Problem 13DQ is Solved
Step 3 of 3
