A gaseous mixture consisting of 50% argon and 50% nitrogen

Chapter 11, Problem 11.101

(choose chapter or problem)

gaseous mixture consisting of 50% argon and 50% nitrogen (molar basis) is contained in a closed tank at 20 atm, \(-140^{\circ} \mathrm{F}\). Estimate the specific volume, in \(\mathrm{ft}^{3} / \mathrm{lb}\), using

(a) the ideal gas equation of state.

(b) Kay’s rule together with the generalized compressibility chart.

(c) the Redlich–Kwong equation with mixture values for a and b.

(d) the additive volume rule together with the generalized compressibility chart.
