A series-connected motor drives a load from a 50-V source

Chapter 16, Problem P16.71

(choose chapter or problem)

A series-connected motor drives a load from a 50-V source at a speed of 1500 rpm. The load torque is proportional to speed. The resistances RF = RA = 0. Neglect rotational losses. What average source voltage is needed to achieve a speed of 1000 rpm? If this is achieved by chopping the 50-V source as illustrated in Figure 16.25 on page 785, find the duty ratio Ton/T.
