The article “A Robust Optimization Approach for the CapacitatedVehicle Routing Problem withDemandUncertainty” (I. Sungur, F. Ord´o˜nez, and M. Dessouky, IIE Transactions, 2008:509–523) discusses methods to reduce transportation costs while satisfying demands.
