QUESTION:

Estimate the number of air molecules in an average-sized room.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

Ideal Gas Law: \(P V=N K_{B} T\)

Where \(P\) is the pressure of the gas (measured in \(Pa\) or \(\mathrm{N} / m^{2}\) ), \(V\) is the volume (measured in \(m^{3}\)), \(N\) is the number of molecules, \(k_{B}\) is the Boltzmann constant (\(k_{B}\) = \(1.38 \times 10^{-23} \mathrm{~J} / \mathrm{K}\)) and \(T\) is the temperature (measured in \(K\)).
