Chapter 3, Problem 3.118

(choose chapter or problem)

We can obtain a useful linear approximation of the function f(x) = 1/( I + tan x) at x = 0 by combining the approximations to get I --:::;I-x 1 + x and tanx :::; x I I + tanx :::; 1 - x. Show that this result is the standard linear approximation of 1/(1 + tanx) atx = O.
