What is his final position relative to the island?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 3

In this question 7 displacement (with magnitude and direction) is given. We have to calculate the resultant displacement using the vector addition formula.

We will take east direction as the positive  axis and north as positive  axis. Now we will decompose all the vectors towards the north and east component. Then we will add all the corresponding components to get the final north and east components towards the north and east direction. From this component we will calculate the magnitude and direction of the resultant displacement. And then we will state the final position.
