Show that property (6). Sec. 34. also holds when /1 is a negative integer. Do this by writing : 1,.,, = (:: l:'m ,--1 (111 = -11). where /1 h~L" any one of the negative values /1 = -1. -2 .... (sec Exercise 9. Sec. 11 ). and using the fact that the property is already known to be valid for positive integers.
