The usual distances for track (running) events are 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 5000 meters, and 10,000 meters. (a) Plot the length of each track event on a linear scale. (b) Plot the length of each track event on a logarithmic scale. (c) Which scale, (a) or (b), is more useful to the runner? (d) On each figure identify the point corresponding to 50 meters.
