A super-directional microphone, also called shotgun microphone,6 is designed to pick up sound from directly in front of it. The pickup area of such a microphone can be described using the polar curve = 2 for , where the microphone is located at the origin and distances are given in feet. See Figure 8.60. Several guests on a radio show that uses a shotgun microphone are seated at positions described by the polar coordinates (6, ), (6, 34), (6, 34). Can all of them be picked up by the microphone?
