We use scalars to describe quantities like weight because these require only a single number (for example, 50 lbs). We use vectors to describe quantities like velocity because these require more than one number (for example, 20 mph at a heading of 80). In Exercises 18, should we describe the given quantity with a vector or a scalar? The location in space of a satellite.
