Chapter , Problem 78

(choose chapter or problem)

Near the surface of the Earth there is an electric field ofabout 150 V/m which points downward. Two identical ballswith mass m = 0.340 kg are dropped from a height of2.00 m, but one of the balls is positively charged withqi = 450 fxC, and the second is negatively charged withq2 = 450/xC. Use conservation of energy to determinethe difference in the speeds of the two balls when they hitthe ground. (Neglect air resistance.)
