DATA ANALYSIS: RESIDENTS The table shows the numbers (in thousands) of Alaskan residents from 2002 through 2007. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau) (a) Find the first differences of the data shown in the table. (b) Use your results from part (a) to determine whether a linear model can be used to approximate the data. If so, find a model algebraically. Let represent the year, with corresponding to 2002. (c) Use the regression feature of a graphing utility to find a linear model for the data. Compare this model with the one from part (b). (d) Use the models found in parts (b) and (c) to estimate the number of residents in 2013. How do these values compare?
