The 6th step of glycolysis is the conversion of Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate to 1, 3-Bisphosphoglycerate. The enzyme Triose phosphate dehydrogenase catalyzes this step.
This step involves a redox reaction in which the sugar "glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate” acts as a reducing agent by itself being oxidized by the transfer of electrons and H ions to NAD+. And NAD+ acts as an oxidizing agent by getting reduced, accepting electrons and H+ from the sugar, and forming NADH.
