The First Census The first census taken in the United States after the adoption of the U.S. Constitution was in 1790. The following table shows the results of this census.

a) Determine the apportionment that would have resulted if Hamiltons method had been used as the method originally approved by Congress. One hundred five seats were to be distributed.

b) Determine the apportionment that was used with Jeffersons method.

c) Compare the apportionments from parts (a) and (b). Which state(s) benefited from Jeffersons method? Which state(s) were at a disadvantage from Jeffersons method?
