The variation in the density of water, with temperature,

Chapter 1, Problem 1.40

(choose chapter or problem)

The variation in the density of water, \(\rho\), with temperature, T, in the range \(20~ ^\circ \mathrm C \leq T \leq 50~ ^\circ \mathrm C\), is given in the following table.

Use these data to determine an empirical equation of the form \(\rho = c_1 + c_2 T + c_3 T^2\) which can be used to predict the density over the range indicated. Compare the predicted values with the data given. What is the density of water at \(42.1~ ^\circ \mathrm C\)?
