Water flows uniformly at a depth of 1 m in a channel that is 5 m wide as shown in Fig. P10.81. Further downstream, the channel cross section changes to that of a square of width and height b. Determine the value of b if the two portions of this channel are made of the same material and are constructed with the same bottom slope.
