Chapter , Problem 7.87

(choose chapter or problem)

Consider temperature measurement in a gas stream using the thermocouple junction described in 7.86 (D 2 mm, 0.60). If the gas velocity and temperature are 3 m/s and 500 C, respectively, what temperature will be indicated by the thermocouple if the duct surface temperature is 200 C? The gas may be assumed to have the properties of atmospheric air. What temperature will be indicated by the thermocouple if the gas pressure is doubled and all other conditions remain the same?
