Suppose y1(t) is the solution of the initial-value problem

Chapter , Problem 11

(choose chapter or problem)

Suppose y1(t) is the solution of the initial-value problem d2 y dt2 + p dy dt + qy = f1(t), y(0) = y (0) = 0. (a) Compute an expression for L[y1]. (b) Suppose y2(t) is the solution of the initial-value problem d2 y dt2 + p dy dt + qy = f2(t), y(0) = y (0) = 0. for a different forcing function f2(t). Show that L[ f2] L[y2] = L[ f1] L[y1] . (c) Show that L[y2] = L[ f2] L[y1] L[ f1] . (This implies that we could use the the solution with any forcing function and zero initial conditions to compute solutions for other forcing functions.)
