Consider the predator-prey system d R dt = 2R 1.2RF d F dt

Chapter , Problem 7

(choose chapter or problem)

Consider the predator-prey system d R dt = 2R 1.2RF d F dt = F + 1.2RF and the initial condition (R0, F0) = (1.0, 1.0). (a) Calculate the Runge-Kutta approximation to this system for five steps with t = 1.0. Plot the results in the phase plane. (b) With the aid of a calculator or a computer, repeat the calculation in part (a) with t = 0.1 and n = 80 steps. Plot the result in the phase plane. (c) Using the results of part (b), plot the R(t)- and F(t)-graphs for this solution.
