A multilevel QPSK communications system trans mi ts three

Chapter 11, Problem 11.28

(choose chapter or problem)

A multilevel QPSK communications system trans mi ts three bits every unit of time. For each possible sequence ijk of three bits, one of eight symbols, {sooo, soo1, . . . , s111}, is transmitted. When signal Sijk is transmitted, the receiver output is x = S ijk + N , where N is a Gaussian ( 0, CY21) random vector. The two-dimensional signal vectors sooo, .. . ,s111 are S110 S111 So10 So11 sooo soo1 S100 S101 Let H ijk denote the hypothesis that Sijk was transmitted. The receiver output X = [ X 1 X 2 J ' is used to decide the acceptance sets {-4000, . . . , Ai 11}. If all eight symbols are equally likely, sketch the acceptance sets.
