Solution: Otto, Diesel, and Dual Cycles At the beginning of

Chapter 9, Problem 33P

(choose chapter or problem)

At the beginning of the compression process in an air-standard Diesel cycle, \(p_1=1 \mathrm{bar}\) and \(T_1=300 \mathrm{~K}\). For maximum cycle temperatures of 1200, 1500, 1800, and \(2100 \mathrm{K}\), plot the heat addition per unit of mass, in \(\mathrm{kJ} / \mathrm{kg}\), the net work per unit of mass, in \(\mathrm{kJ} / \mathrm{kg}\), the mean effective pressure, in bar, and the thermal efficiency, each versus compression ratio ranging from 5 to 20.
