Chapter 9, Problem 101P

(choose chapter or problem)

Nitrogen \(\left(\mathrm{N}_{2}\right)\) is the working fluid of a Stirling cycle with a compression ratio of nine. At the beginning of the isothermal compression, the temperature, pressure, and volume are 310 K, 1 bar, and \(0.008 \mathrm{\ m}^{3}\), respectively. The temperature during the isothermal expansion is 1000 K. Determine

(a) the network, in kJ.

(b) the thermal efficiency.

(c) the mean effective pressure, in bar.
