Chapter 10, Problem 57P

(choose chapter or problem)

Air within a piston–cylinder assembly undergoes a Stirling refrigeration cycle, which is the reverse of the Stirling power cycle introduced in Sec. 9.8.4. At the beginning of the isothermal compression, the pressure and temperature are 100 kPa and 350 K, respectively. The compression ratio is 7, and the temperature during the isothermal expansion is 150 K. Determine the

(a) heat transfer for the isothermal compression, in kJ per kg of air.

(b) net work for the cycle, in kJ per kg of air.

(c) coefficient of performance.
