Considering Constant-Composition ProcessesA mixture of 5

Chapter 12, Problem 17P

(choose chapter or problem)

A mixture of 5 kg of \(\mathbf{H}_{2}\) and 4 kg of \(\mathbf{O}_{2}\) is compressed in a piston–cylinder assembly in a polytropic process for which n = 1.6. The temperature increases from 40 to \(250^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\). Using constant values for the specific heats, determine

(a) the heat transfer, in kJ.

(b) the entropy change, in kJ/K.
