Considering Constant-Composition ProcessesA gas mixture
Chapter 12, Problem 22P(choose chapter or problem)
A gas mixture having a molar analysis of 60% \(\mathbf{O}_{2}\) and 40% \(\mathbf{N}_{2}\) enters an insulated compressor operating at steady state at 1 bar, \(20^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\) with a mass flow rate of 0.5 kg/s and is compressed to 5.4 bar. Kinetic and potential energy effects are negligible. For an isentropic compressor efficiency of 78%, determine
(a) the temperature at the exit, in \({ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\).
(b) the power required, in kW.
(c) the rate of entropy production, in kW/K.
