Considering Simultaneous ReactionsButane (C4H10) burns

Chapter 14, Problem 71P

(choose chapter or problem)

Butane (\(\mathrm{C}_{4} \mathrm{H}_{10}\)) burns with 100% excess air to form an equilibrium mixture at 1400 K, 20 atm consisting of \(\mathrm{CO}_{2}\), \(\mathrm{O}_{2}\), \(\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}\)(g), \(\mathrm{N}_{2}\), NO, and \(\mathrm{NO}_{2}\). Determine the balanced reaction equation. For \(\mathrm{N}_{2}+2 \mathrm{O}_{2} \rightleftarrows 2 \mathrm{NO}_{2} \text { at } 1400 \mathrm{~K}, K=8.4 \times 10^{-10}\).
