Using the Gerber fatigue criterion and a fatigue-design factor of 2, determine the external repeated load P that a \(1\frac{1}{4}\)-in SAE grade 5 coarse-thread bolt can take compared with that for a fine-thread bolt. The joint constants are C = 0.30 for coarse- and 0.32 for fine-thread bolts. Assume the bolts are preloaded to 75 percent of the proof load.
