A time series plot is given in advertisement by a golf magazine.

One person interprets the plot’s message as the longer you subscribe, the better golfer you should become.

Another person interprets the plot’s message as if you subscribe for 3 years, your game should improve dramatically.

We are asked to find the reason why the plot can be interpreted in more than one way.

The first reason is that the plot is in decreasing manner and it almost reaches the horizontal axis at 3 years. Hence one can conclude that the plot has been cut off meaning there may be further approaching of a graph.

From the graph we can see that there is no scale provided on the vertical axis, hence we can’t predict the improvement of the golf score.

Another reason is that we are not having any sample data which was surveyed, hence we can’t state that graph is created from the sample of related golf player populations.
