b. Could the result from part (a) be the actual number of adults who said that they prefer $ 1 to be in the form of paper currency? Why or why not?

c. What is the actual number of adults who said that they prefer $1 to be in the form of paper currency?

d. Among the 2513 respondents, 327 said that they prefer $1 to be currency in the form of a coin. What is the percentage of respondents who said that they prefer $ 1 to be currency in the form of a coin?

Step-by-Step Solution:

Answer :

Step 1 of 1 :

Given, In a Harris poll of 2513 adults, 76% said that they prefer $1 to be in the form of paper currency

Where, n = 2513 and p = 76% = 0.76

  1. The claim is to find the exact value that is 76% of 2513

We will get the exact value, when we multiply n and p

                      = 2513(0.76)

                      = 1909.88

       b)  here, the exact value is 1909.88

We are dealing with number of people. The figure must be a whole number

result from part (a) is not the actual number of adults who said that they prefer $ 1         to be in the form of paper currency

c) to get the actual number, we have to round-off the nearest value of the exact value

     = 2513(0.76)

     = 1909.88  1910

1910 adults who said that they prefer $1 to be in the form of paper currency.

d) the claim is to find the percentage of respondents who said that they prefer $ 1 to be currency in the form of a coin.

So, divide the given number by the total number of respondents

327/2513 = 0.130123

13.0123 % of respondents who said that they prefer $ 1 to be currency in the form of a coin

Step 2 of 1
