Some lasers emit light in pulses that are only 10-12 s in duration. The length of such a pulse is 13 * 108 m>s2110-12 s2 = 3 * 10-4 m = 0.3 mm. Can pulsed laser light be as monochromatic as light from a laser that emits a steady, continuous beam? Explain.
