The wave function of a quantum particle of mass m is c(x) 5 A cos (kx) 1 B sin (kx) where A, B, and k are constants. (a) Assuming the particle is free (U 5 0), show that c(x) is a solution of the Schrdinger equation (Eq. 41.15). (b) Find the corresponding energy E of the particle.
