Chapter 24, Problem 33P

(choose chapter or problem)

The rms current in an RLcircuit is 0.26 A when it is con-nected to an ac generator with a frequency of 60.0 Hz and an rms voltage of 25 V.

(a) Given that the inductor has an induc-tance of 145mH, what is the resistance of the resistor?

(b) Find the rms voltage across the resistor.

(c) Find the rms voltage across the inductor.

(d) Use your results from parts (b) and (c) to show that \(\sqrt{V_{r m s,}^{2} R+V_{r m s,}^{2}} \text { is equal to } 25 \mathrm{~V} \text {. }\)
