Chapter 24, Problem 38P

(choose chapter or problem)

An RL circuit consists of a resistor , an inductor L = 31 mH and an ac generator with an rms voltage of 120 V.

(a) At what frequency will the rms current in this circuit be 1.5 A? For this frequency, what are

(b) the rms voltage across the resistor,\(V_{r m s, R}\), and

(c) the rms voltage across the inductor, \(V_{r m s, L}\)?

(d) Show that \(V_{r m s, R}+V>120 \mathrm{~V}\) but that \(\sqrt{V_{r m s, R}^{2}+V_{m m s, L}^{2}=120 V}\)
