Solved: X and Y are independent, normal random variables

Chapter 5, Problem 62E

(choose chapter or problem)

X and Y are independent, normal random variables with \(E(X)=0, V(X)=4, E(Y)=10\), and \(V(Y)=9\).

Determine the following:

(a) \(E(2 x+3 Y)\)                         (b) \(V(2 X+3 Y)\)

(c) \(P(2 X+3 Y<30)\)                        (d) \(P(2 X+3 Y<40)\)

Equation transcription:

Text transcription:

E(X)=0, V(X)=4, E(Y)=10

E(2 x+3 Y)

V(2 X+3 Y)

P(2 X+3 Y<30)

P(2 X+3 Y<40)
