The Meerwein–Ponndorf–Verley reaction involves reduction of a ketone by treatment with an excess of aluminum triisopropoxide, \(\left[\left(\mathrm{CH}_{3}\right)_{2} \mathrm{CHO}\right]_{3} \mathrm{Al}\).
