Consider the baseball coefficient of restitution data first presented in Exercise 8-92

Chapter 9, Problem 9-62

(choose chapter or problem)

Consider the baseball coefficient of restitution data first presented in Exercise 8-92. (a) Do the data support the claim that the mean coefficient of restitution of baseballs exceeds 0.635? Use 0.05. Find the P-value. (b) Check the normality assumption. (c) Compute the power of the test if the true mean coefficient of restitution is as high as 0.64. (d) What sample size would be required to detect a true mean coefficient of restitution as high as 0.64 if we wanted the power of the test to be at least 0.75? (e) Explain how the question in part (a) could be answered with a confidence interval.
