Problem 101P

Consider the liquid–vapor saturation curve of a pure substance on the P-Tdiagram. The magnitude of the slope of the tangent line to this curve at a temperature T(in Kelvin) is

(a) proportional to the enthalpy of vaporization hfg at that temperature.

(b) proportional to the temperature T.

(c) proportional to the square of the temperature T.

(d) proportional to the volume change Vfgat that temperature.

(e) inversely proportional to the entropy change sfgat that temperature.
