Selenium A small amount of the trace elementselenium, 50200 micrograms (mg) per day, is consideredessential to good health. Suppose that randomsamples of n1 n2 30 adults were selected fromtwo regions of the United States and that a daysintake of selenium was recorded for each person. Themean and standard deviation of the selenium dailyintakes for the 30 adults from region 1 were x1167.1 and s1 24.3 mg, respectively. The correspondingstatistics for the 30 adults from region 2 were x2140.9 and s2 17.6 mg. Find a 95% confidence intervalfor the difference in the mean selenium intakes forthe two regions. Interpret this interval.
