How would the magnitude of the lattice energy calculated using the Born-Haber cycle change if the charges on the cation and anion were +2 and -2, respectively, rather than +1 and -1 ?
(a) Lattice energy would increase.
(b) Lattice energy would decrease.
(c) Whether lattice energy would increase or decrease depends on the relative magnitudes of \(I E_2\) of the cation and \(E A_2\) of the anion.
