QUESTION:

Consider each pair of bases, and explain which one is more basic. Draw their conjugate acids, and show which one is a stronger acid.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 5

The species which are proton acceptors and electron donors are called bases. The pH value for bases is found to be less than 7. The basicity of a molecule can also be explained by using the hybridization of the molecules. The basicity of  atoms is higher in comparison to the basicity of  atoms. On the other hand, the order for conjugate acids is the opposite, which means the hydrogen attached to sp hybridized atom is higher than the acidity of hydrogen attached to  atoms.
