Chapter 9, Problem 9.18

(choose chapter or problem)

The analysis developed in Prob. 9.16 applies to a device used to measure the viscosity of a fluid. By applying a known torque to the inner cylinder and measuring the angular velocity achieved, one can calculate the viscosity of the fluid. Assume you have a 4 em inner cylinder and a 4.5 em outer cylinder. "I he cylinders are 10 em long. When a force of 0.6 N is applied to the tangent of the inner cylinder, it rotates at 20 rpm. Calculate the viscosity of the fluid.
