A mass of 120 lb at location 1 and an 80-lb mass at location 2 are attached as shown in Figure P17.15 except the shaft diameter is 3.0 in. By means of a deflection analysis, the influence coefficients for the shaft were determined as

\(\mathrm{a}_{11}\) = 0.000061 in./lb

\(\mathrm{a}_{12}\) = 0.000063 in./lb

\(\mathrm{a}_{21}\) = 0.000063 in./lb

\(\mathrm{a}_{22}\) = 0.000101 in./lb

Determine the first critical speed, ignoring the mass of the shaft, using the Rayleigh equation and the Dunkerley equation.
