(choose chapter or problem)

Two resonance forms can be written for a bond between trivalent boron and anatom with a lone pair of electrons. (a) Formulate them for (i) (CH3)2BN(CH3)2; (ii) (CH3)2BOCH3;(iii) (CH3)2BF. (b) Using the guidelines in Section 1-5, determine which form in each pair ofresonance forms is more important. (c) How do the electronegativity differences between N, O, andF affect the relative importance of the resonance forms in each case? (d) Predict the hybridizationof N in (i) and O in (ii).
