Chapter 1, Problem 30

(choose chapter or problem)

(a) Let

\(f(x)=\frac{\sin x-\sin 1}{x-1}\)

Approximate \(\lim _{x \rightarrow 1} f(x)\) by graphing \(f\) and calculating values for some appropriate choices of \(x\).

(b) Use the identity

\(\sin \alpha-\sin \beta=2 \sin \frac{\alpha-p}{2} \cos \frac{\alpha+p}{2}\)

to find the exact value of \(\lim _{x \rightarrow 1} f(x)\).
