First, write cos2 x = (cos x)(cos x) and integrate by parts to show that % cos2 x dx = sin x cos x + % sin2 x dx Then, use sin2 x + cos2 x = 1 to replace sin2 x in the integral on the right-hand side, and complete the integration of & cos2 x dx.
