Chapter 14, Problem 16

(choose chapter or problem)

In a genetics experiment, investigators looked at 300 chromosomesof a particular type and counted the number ofsister-chromatid exchanges on each (On the Nature ofSister-Chromatid Exchanges in 5-Bromodeoxyuridine-Substituted Chromosomes, Genetics, 1979: 12511264). APoisson model was hypothesized for the distribution of thenumber of exchanges. Test the fit of a Poisson distributionto the data by first estimating m and then combining thecounts for and into one cell.
