What Are the Odds? The fact that all the planets orbit the Sun inthe same direction is cited as support for the nebular hypothesis.Imagine that theres a different hypothesis in which planetscan be created orbiting the Sun in either direction. Underthis hypothesis, what is the probability that ten planets wouldend up traveling the same direction? (Hint: Its the same probabilityas that of flipping a coin ten times and getting tenheads or ten tails.)
