Chapter 7, Problem 76

(choose chapter or problem)

Total Energy A 100-watt (W) light bulb has resistance R = 144 ohms () when attached to household current, where the voltage varies as V = V0 sin(2f t) (V0 = 110 V, f = 60 Hz). The energy (in joules) expended by the bulb over a period of T seconds is U = T 0 P(t) dt where P = V 2/R (J/s) is the power. Compute U if the bulb remains on for 5 h.
