QUESTION:

Problem 43E

Jukebox You look over the songs on a jukebox and determine that you like 15 of the 56 songs.

(a) What is the probability that you like the next three songs that are played? (Assume a song cannot be repeated.)

(b) What is the probability that you do not like the next three songs that are played? (Assume a song cannot be repeated.)

ANSWER:

Solution

Step 1 of 2

Given that there are 56 songs in a juke box

In that you like 15 songs

a) We have to find the probability of you like next three songs that are played

The probability of playing the first song that you like is (15/56)

The probability of playing the first song that you like is (14/55)

The probability of playing the first song that you like is (13/54)

Now the probability of you like next three songs that are played is

                                         =0.0164

Hence the probability of you like next three songs that are played is 0.0164
